Undefeated Eagles Remain Work in Progress Following Tough Overtime Win Over Commanders

The Philadelphia Eagles are still undefeated after four games, but they showed signs of vulnerability in their overtime win over the Washington Commanders. The Eagles trailed by 14 points in the fourth quarter and needed a late rally to force overtime.

Jalen Hurts threw for 319 yards and two touchdowns in the win, but he also had two interceptions. The Eagles' running game was also inconsistent, gaining just 94 yards on 24 carries.

Despite their flaws, the Eagles found a way to win. They forced three turnovers in the second half, including a pick-six by Darius Slay that tied the game at 24-24 with just over two minutes remaining in regulation.

The Eagles won the toss in overtime and drove down the field for a field goal to win the game.

"We're not playing our best ball right now, but we're still finding ways to win games," said Eagles center Jason Kelce. "That's a good sign."

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni agreed that his team is still a work in progress.

"We're not perfect," Sirianni said. "We made a lot of mistakes today. But we showed a lot of character in coming back to win."

The Eagles' toughest test so far came in Week 4 against the Commanders. Washington has a good defense and a running game that can control the clock. The Eagles were able to overcome those challenges and win the game, but they know they need to improve if they want to make a deep playoff run.

Here are some areas where the Eagles need to improve:

  • Pass protection: The Eagles gave up four sacks to the Commanders, including two in the fourth quarter. Hurts needs more time to throw the ball, especially in critical situations.
  • Offensive consistency: The Eagles' offense has been up and down this season. They need to find a way to be more consistent if they want to beat the top teams in the NFL.
  • Defensive communication: The Eagles gave up several big plays to the Commanders in the passing game. They need to improve their communication on defense if they want to stop the best offenses in the league.

Despite their flaws, the Eagles are still one of the best teams in the NFL. They have a talented roster and a good coaching staff. If they can improve in the areas mentioned above, they will be a tough team to beat in the playoffs.
