Falcons fantasy stud and dud from Week 5 vs. Texans

Falcons fantasy stud and dud from Week 5 vs. Texans

The Atlanta Falcons picked up their first win of the season in Week 5, defeating the Houston Texans 28-21. In the process, a few Falcons players emerged as fantasy studs, while others disappointed.

Stud: Desmond Ridder

Ridder had the best game of his young career in Week 5, completing 28 of 37 passes for 329 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. He also added a rushing touchdown for good measure. Ridder was poised and confident throughout the game, and he showed that he has the potential to be a fantasy asset in the years to come.

Dud: Tyler Allgeier

Allgeier was expected to be the Falcons' lead running back in Week 5, but he struggled to get going against the Texans. He carried the ball 17 times for just 40 yards, and he didn't catch any passes. Allgeier is still a rookie, but he needs to show more improvement if he wants to be a fantasy starter on a regular basis.

Honorable mentions:

  • Kyle Pitts: Pitts had a solid game, catching seven passes for 87 yards. He's still not putting up the numbers that fantasy owners expected of him this season, but he's a good option to start in TE1-starved leagues.
  • Drake London: London caught six passes for 78 yards in Week 5. He's been a bright spot for the Falcons' offense this season, and he has WR2 upside in fantasy leagues.

Overall:

Ridder was the clear standout for the Falcons in Week 5, and he should be considered a fantasy starter going forward. Allgeier was a disappointment, but he's still worth monitoring as the season progresses. Pitts and London are both solid fantasy options, but they're not must-starts.
