Kenny Pickett Leaves Steelers' Loss with Knee Injury

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett left Sunday's 30-6 loss to the Houston Texans with a knee injury. Pickett was sacked by Texans defensive end Jonathan Greenard on a fourth-and-1 play in the third quarter and remained on the ground for several minutes before being helped off the field. He was ruled out of the game shortly after and did not return.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin did not have any updates on Pickett's injury after the game, saying only that it was being evaluated. However, Tomlin did say that Pickett was able to walk off the field on his own power.

Pickett had struggled to move the offense before exiting the game, completing 15 of 23 passes for just 114 yards with an interception. The Steelers trailed 16-6 at the time of his injury.

Pickett's injury is a major blow to the Steelers, who are already dealing with a number of other injuries, including to wide receiver Diontae Johnson, running back Najee Harris, and offensive linemen Mason Cole and Kevin Dotson.

The Steelers will now turn to backup quarterback Mitchell Trubisky to start in Pickett's absence. Trubisky played well in relief of Pickett on Sunday, completing 14 of 20 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown.

However, Trubisky has not been a consistent starter in the NFL since 2020, and it remains to be seen if he can lead the Steelers to victory without Pickett.

The Steelers will play the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football in Week 5. It is unclear if Pickett will be able to return for that game
